ITBMonday #5

Lots of goodies last week that read like a wine geek's diary.

One bottle of this left.
First come first served.

Magical Muscadet: 2005, 1999, 1997.
And for good measure, a bit of 2001 bubbly Chenin Blanc hiding in the back.

 Names these grapes!

It's not all about the oxidative geek-juice.
Some excellent values in this line up.

 Back to the not-so-basics

Something savory + something sweet = a very nice pair.

ITBMonday #4: Finders Keepers

...and @KatieDrinksWine snagged the final magnum of
Occhipinti Frappato

She beat out David by about an hour, but all's fair in love and wine buying. Never fear, David happily made off with a bottle of the tasty Fravolate Frappato (naked ladies on the label... well... line drawings of sort-of-naked ladies) and a couple bottles of the La Clarine Farm White Blend. Not pictured...the Rieslings which tempted him before he managed an escape. He claims he was delirious... I think it was a perfectly logical decision.

Possibly more important than the Frappato photo-finish.... Katie managed to spot - and snag - my last bottle of La Clarine Farm 2010 Sumu Kaw Vineyard. Further proof that if you see a bottle on a shelf...even if that shelf is half-hidden behind some boxes.... and even if I wanted to take that very bottle home with me that night... I'll let you buy it. On Mondays, finders-keepers rules.

ITBMonday Suggestions: 31 Days of German Riesling Edition

Since ITBMonday is a trade-focused promotion promotion, and since everyone in the trade loves Riesling, and since this week starts of the German portion of the Summer of Riesling, I thought I would make a few riesling suggestions for upcoming Mondays. Or particular interest: AJ Adam (2 vintages!), a few stray bottles of Donnhoff GG and Schager Frolich, and the always fun-to-say Muller-Catoir Gimmeldigen.

Prices below are the regular retail. My mark-up is usually typical NYC-off-trade so you can do the math.*

AJ Adam Dhron Hofberg Kabinett 2010 (Mosel, Germany) - $32.99

AJ Adam Dhron Hofberg Kabinett 2011 (Mosel, Germany) - $32.99

Schlossmuhlenhof Riesling Trocken 2011 1 Liter (Rheinhessen, Germany) - $13.99

Wurtz Riesling 2011 3L Box (Rheinhessen, Germany) - $24.99

*ITBMonday Rules: If you're in the "adult beverage business," give us your card and get any three bottles at a 25% mark-up from cost. You must come in to the store on Monday. Any Monday. But it must be a Monday. And we retail full right to tweet about how cool your suggestions are (or aren't, if it comes to that, but it never comes to that.)

ITBMonday #3: Magnum Monday

Last week's coolest purchase: magnums. Very cool magnums. Including my last magnum of the Foillard Cote du Py. And my next to last magnum of the Occhipinti Frappato... which is probably tasting pretty damn fine right now. If you're a sharp reader, you already honed in on the phrase next to last which means you could still snag it. ITBMonday cost: $66.66.

P.S. We open at 11AM.
